WHAT IS AGRICULTURE

Agriculture is the practice of farming
including cultivation of animals,
plants and other life forms.
Agribusiness includes businesses
associated with various agricultural
practices. In agriculture domain we
focus on various agribusiness
segments such as agriculture inputs,
agrochemicals, animal husbandry,
farm equipment and machinery,
agricultural biotechnology and
various services related to the
industry. Information from our
market research studies can be very
helpful to manufacturers, traders,
distributors, and suppliers,
Government and research
organizations, Associations, and
other industry bodies. Our reports
presents deeper dive in particular
market segment and provide hard to
find market acumens, trends and
forecast.
Huge population was engaged in
agriculture until industrial revolution
took place. The farmers were
employed in cultivating the required
products for themselves. However,
industrialization had changed the
scenario. Trade of the agriculture
products started taking place in
huge volumes. A tremendous shift in
agricultural practices has emerged
over the past century related to new
technologies and the growth of
world markets. New technologies
were invented for agriculture
purposes. Advanced raw materials
required for agriculture such as
fertilizers, pesticides and manures
along with seeds were developed.
Research and development of these
products took a toll for the industry
and agriculture also started to
commercialize in the environment.
In 21st century, agriculture faces
many challenges. It requires to
harvest more food to feed a rising
population with less rural labour
force, more feedstock for a
potentially huge bioenergy market,
contribute to overall growth in the
agriculture-dependent developing
countries, implement more effective
and sustainable production methods
and adapt to climate change.
Modern agronomy, plant breeding,
technological development and
agrochemicals like pesticides and
fertilizers have stridently increased
yields from cultivation. But
simultaneously have caused
widespread ecological damage and
harmful human health effects.
Selective breeding and modern
practices in animal husbandry for
instance intensive pig farming have
also increased the meat production.
However it has raised concerns
aboutanimal welfare and the health
effects of the antibiotics, growth
hormonesand other chemicals
commonly used in industrial meat
production.
Foods, fibers, fuels, and raw
materials are the broadly classified
agricultural products. Specific foods
include cereals, vegetables, fruits,
and meat. Fibers include cotton,
wool, hemp, silk and flax. Raw
materials involve lumber and
bamboo. Other useful materials are
produced by plants, such as resins.
Biofuels contain methane from
biomass, ethanol, and biodiesel. Few
ornamental products for the pet
trade are cut flowers, tropical fish,
nursery plants, and birds.A rising
global issue that is promoting an
essential and growing debate is
agricultural food production and
water management.
The world population is increasing at
a faster rate which is estimated to
grow by 2.3 billion people by 2050.
The food production needs to be
increased by 70 percent between
2005 and 2050 to feed a world
population of 9.1 billion people. In
the developing countries production
would need to be nearly double.
In agriculture one third of the
world's employees were working
next to the service sector.
Agricultural production is less than
five percent of the of the gross
world product in spite of the
employees size.
There are some important changes
in the world agriculture in the last
few decades. In many developing
countries there has been a great
expansion of capacities in
agricultural research and innovation.
These countries now account for a
large and growing share of global
agricultural production. The
alteration of location and
composition of global agricultural
production is the second major
development.
Lets promote agribusiness for
income and food security!
