FOREST FARMING

FOOD FOREST farming
where u grow wide range of
crops: hybrid fruit trees & fodder
shrubs(medium term crop) wood/
timber spp (long term) biannual
seasonal cover crops(short term
crops) beekeeping etc. All the
above mentioned are grown
under one roof. The benefits are
as follows
(i)farmer gets income
all year round eg wen avocados are
off season you sell the oranges, paw
paw, grains as you wait for the
avocado to mature once again-
meaning farmer creates own
income cycle.

(ii) should one crop
market price fall the change wont
spell doom for the farmer because he
can count on better price for the
other crops

(iii)elements in a
food forest support and sustain
each other eg the nitrogen fixing
fodder trees will fix nitrogen for use
by eg fruit trees. Bee kept will aid
pollination within the food forest.
(iv) Research shows that farmers
doing food forest get more income
per year than those doing
monoculture farm enterprises.
FOOD FORESTS are sustainable
and affordable.
