Overview
In the month of April, 2014, Moi Gardens, Kericho County will open its doors to welcome over 2,000 enthusiastic farmers to the South Rift Agri-Business Expo.

They will be treated to over 100 demonstrations and activities for all types and levels of experience, in the agricultural field. They will enjoy over 100 exhibitions, from all over Kenya and will have the opportunity to connect with farmers and other agricultural stakeholders, and begin conversations on the latest trends and technologies in the agricultural space.

In our quest to host the SOUTH RIFT 2014 AGRI-BUSINESS EXPO in Kericho, we have selected the theme, “Technologies and Emerging Trends to Drive Agri-business”.

The expo will be the first of its kind to be held in the region. As the regional community faces increasingly complex and interconnected challenges, the links between people, societies and ideas have never been more important. The expo thus, will be a platform to help pioneer new partnerships for growth and sustainability for the future in agriculture.

To achieve the region pivotal role of food security in the economy, we are aware that our continued progress depends on interaction and cooperation between individuals in the region and the rest of the country. This interconnectedness lies at the heart of who we are and what we do. It is our passion for helping farmers to network that drives our desire to bring the SOUTH RIFT 2014 AGRI-BUSINESS EXPO for the first time to the region.

Justification

The Great Exhibitions of the past brought new concepts to the world: objects, ideas and knowledge that have forever changed our perspective. They opened the doors to the unknown; they challenged nations, industries and budding entrepreneurs alike, to design, to create and to explore.

Inspired by the same spirit and passion, this Expo will be a significant new source of solutions to farmers’ outstanding challenges which continue to limit progress towards a more sustainable, prosperous and stable agricultural economy. The Expo will define communication and links to farmers while rewarding outstanding achievements and innovations in agriculture.

The theme of the Expo, “Technologies and Emerging Trends to Drive Agri-Business”, emphasizes the importance of technologies and innovation as the best option to build a sustainable agricultural economy today and in the future. It recognizes the importance of mobility, sustainability and opportunity as being central to the development of the region. The convening power of the expo, combined with the ability and motivation to facilitate and grow partnerships, will help focus the farmer’s best creative energies in delivering solutions in these domains and help improve our lives.
